What is Walk to Work Week?
Walk to Work Week is a week dedicated to thinking about how we travel and encouraging employees to make a special effort to include walking in their daily routine.
How do I take part?
Businesses are able to sign up to take part in the week by registering at www.mylivingstreets.org.uk
Employees can then join their workplace group online by visiting the above website and use the site to record their walking over the week.
What are the benefits of walking?
• It’s a good way of increasing your exercise levels
• It’s free! You don’t need to spend money joining the gym.
• It’s easy! You don’t need any special equipment to start walking more often.
Top tips for the Week
Here are some tips to help you think about how to fit walking into your day:
- Get your energy levels up by walking all or part if your journey to work. For those unable to walk the whole way to work, why not think about parking further away from the office and walking the remainder of the way?
- Get ready for an external meeting by walking all or part of the journey there.
- Break up the day and discover your local area by going for a lunchtime walk.
- De-stress at the end of a busy day by walking all or part of your journey from work.
