Street Light Energy Saving Trial

Our trial to switch off street lights ~ saving energy and reducing our carbon footprint

Welcome to our web pages where you can find out about all the background to our saving energy trial as well as what is happening now that the trial is reaching its conclusion. We know that there will be a lot of interest in what happens next and want to provide a final opportunity for comment before any final decisions are reached about individual sites.

The history to the trial, its rationale and other supporting information have been retained for reference on this site under the History and previous pages (links below) and Useful documents sections of these web pages.

End of trial

The trial formally ended on 10 September 2011, which is three years after the lights were switched off at the last of the 46 sites. As the complete ‘after’ data for each site became available, this was summarised and used to inform a final consultation. Final decisions will then be taken about what will happen at each site.

Consultation on the first 37 sites (of the 46 total) was conducted from 17th October 2011 to 11th December 2011 and is now closed.  Feedback from this, including all data and comments collated during the 3 year trial period, has been reviewed and details of the final proposals for these sites is expected to be available by the end of March 2012.

The pages below provide more information about this process, each site and how you can have your say on the remaining sites. Please note: it is not necessary to repeat what we have already been told about each site as that is already known to us. This final supplementary consultation is intended to provide an opportunity to let us know about anything we might have missed or to receive comments on the proposed recommendation for each site.

One of the sites at A40 Oxford Road Denham (between A412 junction and M25 roundabout) was suspended from the trial due to removal of the bridge.

We hope that you find the information in these pages useful.
