Grass cutting

In April 2010 we began self delivery of the grass cutting contract in the urban areas of the south of the county, excluding the urban area of High Wycombe. With the existing contract coming to an end in April Transport for Buckinghamshire were able to recruit staff and purchase new equipment to enable this process.

As existing contracts come to an end we will consider self delivery in those areas also.

Seven new three man gangs are looking after the highway verges and will continue their cycle of mowing until the end of October. The urban highway verges will be cut approximately twelve to thirteen times over this season.

Where possible we endeavour to mow around any areas planted with bulbs. We do not remove the cuttings but blow them away from the footways. This is another service we have been able to bring into the TfB self delivery plan which enables us to provide an efficient and cost effective service.
